An example of a home quest based on Harry Potter (a gift from a site visitor)

This is not my script, alas)). A mother of two sons, who always organizes interesting holidays for her family with her own hands, kindly shared her ideas. So much love, work, talent...

With the permission of Valentina Dyakonova, I am publishing a detailed story about the home quest (all necessary game materials can be printed for free from Yandex Disk (you must have your own account for this). Here is a spare link.

Thank you Valentina for the detailed description and wonderful photographs.

How it was

Our family has this New Year’s tradition: every year on December 31st we organize a home quest on the theme of my sons’ favorite films or books, most often it is the film “Harry Potter”. This year it was like this:

When I called my sons, we found an unknown box under the Christmas tree. It contained a letter from the Ministry of Magic (attached), a sealed envelope with a letter from the famous wizard Dumbledore (attached) and the inscription “I open at the end,” a piece of paper with unknown symbols (attached), an antique lantern or candle (hold it yourself to avoid fire and burns of children), because We look for gifts only in the light of the lights on the Christmas tree and other garlands, a notebook with a pen for writing down codes, and, most importantly, a stack of tickets for the Hogwarts Express (attached, for convenience it is better to print three on a sheet). The letter states that it is necessary to follow the inscriptions on the tickets and sequentially write down the codes (certain letters of the Latin alphabet) in a notebook.

Let me remind you that everything you need for the game can be printed HERE. Here's a spare link.

Quest “One day at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry”

Quest “One day at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry”

(description of work)

Nowadays, not too few children are familiar with JK Rowling’s work “Harry Potter”. Her books have been translated into 77 languages, and the film adaptation was a huge success and a big profit.

There are many fans of these 7 books about “the boy who lived” all over the world. The books are interesting, literally captivating with their plot. Everything is clear and understandable. The reader can easily imagine each of the characters.

They differ from the Harry Potter films in that many moments are not shown in the film. But the cast is quite good in the film.

Based on this, I decided to conduct a small quest based on this work.

First, we decorated the office in the Hogwarts style (you will find an example of how to decorate an office in the folder; unfortunately, photographs from our office have not survived, so we are content with what we have).

The quest began with letters from Hogwarts, made with my own hands (on the Internet I downloaded a template for an envelope and a ticket for the Hogwarts Express, took the exact text of the letter from the book: it is a separate document in a folder and made an owl - after all, according to the book, letters are brought by owls).

As you can see, in the photo on the right (a moment from the film) the envelope is not completely white, but closer to light brown. The letter and envelope were printed by me on a regular printer, then I “aged” them in black, strongly brewed tea.

The stamp can be made from plasticine in this way:

The ticket was printed on a color printer, pasted onto cardboard and covered with tape.

Here's what happened:

According to the list of necessary school items, we purchase books (we make them from ordinary textbooks or books, we simply attach a printed cover of a magic book on top), we purchase magic wands (we also make them in advance from scrap materials - sushi sticks, beads, beads, glue, on top can be covered with gouache and varnish).

And so we go to Hogwarts! Through platform 9 and 3 quarters of course!

We must go through the wall!

We then move on to the Hogwarts Express. Here you can play a little - stand one after another and go like a train to your destination!

And so we arrived at Hogwarts! What's next!?

Of course, distribution to faculties! The Sorting Hat will help us with this! There are a lot of ideas on the Internet on how you can make it yourself. I made from a sufficient piece of wallpaper, which I folded into a cone, glued, cut out the flaps of the hat and glued them on, then crumpled it as needed and finally painted it with brown gouache.

But the photo below shows a hat made of whatman paper, on top of which weave is glued.

The children were assigned to faculties and became students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! Everyone was given emblems corresponding to their houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin!

Then you need to go to the common living room to relax a little, but on the way there is a portrait of a “Fat Lady”, to whom you need to give a password (you come up with it in advance).

After this, “classes” began: herbology (we worked with indoor “magical” plants), potions (we made various potions according to recipes, the ingredients were juices, tea, berries, etc.), levitation classes, flying on brooms, playing Quidditch. Let's look further.

Let's move on to a new task in which all students will need to find the philosopher's stone. You can arrange it both indoors and outdoors. The essence of the quest is a sequential chain of riddles, clues, as well as tasks - games, which will be discussed further. After each game, a clue card will be given out telling you the location of the next clue. Once you solve a puzzle or complete a task, you will know where the next one is. And so on until you get to the last hiding place, in which that very philosopher’s stone and sweets for children will be hidden.

The clues should be interesting and so that children can figure them out. The recommended number of stages is from 7 to 15. Example hint: “This chatty pile of folds hides more than just piercing weapons.” The answer is the Sorting Hat. That is, we hide the next clue in a hat similar to the one that Godric Gryffindor once bewitched.

You can also hide clues throughout the area where the quest is being held.

"Searching for the Snitch or Playing Quidditch"

The most beloved magical game based on Harry Potter. White tennis balls are suitable for organizing the game. Points are indicated on each marker. For example, 10, 15, 20, 30, one of the balls needs to be painted gold, 100 points are indicated on it - this will be the Snitch. All balls are hidden in different corners of the room. 2 teams of participants are recruited, for each they are asked questions about their knowledge of the book about Harry Potter. Those who answer the question correctly go in search of the Snitch. If the ball is not found within 5 minutes, the question is asked to the next team, and so on in a circle. If one team answers a question incorrectly, the right to search for the ball passes to the opponent. All found balls with points are summed up; whose team scores more points wins.

"Magic Potion"

What wizard can't brew a magic potion? Several people will be needed to participate in the game. Each person is given several types of juices, tea, as well as berries and fruits. You should come up with an interesting and funny name for the prepared drug and tell its purpose. For example, a love potion that gives courage and makes you invisible. Name options: “modest Peeves”, “good-natured Voldemort” or “sweet Dementor”. Whoever prepares the most beautifully colored and most intriguing potion wins.

"Transfiguration"

This is a kind of modification of the game crocodile. All participants are divided into faculties, representatives are selected from each, who will turn into an animal, a piece of furniture, or a person from the magical world. For example, Buckbeak, werewolf, Bellatrix Lestrange, Lucius Malfoy, Horcrux, suitcase, etc. You can only guess the pantomimes shown by your opponents. For each word guessed, the faculty is awarded points.

"Quidditch Pong"

Quidditch Pong is the best game for fans of table tennis and Harry Potter. Two teams are recruited. A random draw determines who throws first. When the Quaffle, that is, an ordinary tennis ball, flying through the ring, hits the opponent’s cup (regular plastic or paper), then this cup is removed.

The opponent can hit the ball on the way to the cup, but only after passing the ring last.

When one cup (or one at a time) remains, the Snitch comes into play. It is quite difficult to calculate the trajectory of a ball with glued paper wings, so hitting the target with it is a real achievement. The team that hits all of the opponent's cups wins.

"Flying the Broom"

To participate in the game you will need 4-5 players. A broom for everyone: nimbus, whirlwind, typhoon, comet, silver arrow. All participants sit on a broom and approach the start. It is important to go the distance as quickly as possible. The task is complicated by dementors that fly along the flight path of the participants and scare them. The one who reaches the finish line first wins.

"Patronus"

The essence of the game is to draw your patronus, because it is different for each wizard. Participants are given colored markers, pencils, gel pens and large sheets of paper. Whoever draws the most beautiful and interesting patronus wins.

"Levitation"

It is known that levitation is floating in the air. The game will require several participants; each will be given soap bubbles. The team whose bubble lasts the longest time in the air wins the competition.

Quiz on the books "Harry Potter"

It is located as a separate document in a folder.

Musical accompaniment

It will be more fun if you use musical accompaniment. Soundtracks for 8 parts of the film about a young wizard will be very useful at this event.

At the end of this quest, all children are awarded Diplomas of completion from Howarth School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (pre-glued onto cardboard and covered with tape).

You can also arrange a small photo session with photo props or received quest paraphernalia.

SECOND ticket – “Room for boys. Prepare the potion"

This is what they liked the most! On the windowsill in the eldest son’s room they found an old box with various filled vials, dried herbs and a recipe for a manifestation potion (attached). And next to it stood a small container with a folded and, at first glance, empty piece of paper. In fact, there is such a trick: on a clean piece of paper with a cotton swab dipped in soda slurry (soda + a little water), the letters “ le”

" In order for them to manifest themselves, grape juice is needed. I bought light and red juice and also used grape vinegar. For variety, I put on “Honey Water” and “Blood of a Salamander” (compote). You can use any bottles and cones; I have containers from a car air freshener and medicine.

Preparation: prepare a piece of paper with the code, inscriptions on the bottles and cones in advance, print out the recipe for “Potion of Manifestation”, and pour liquids into containers before the quest.

FIFTH ticket – “The owl brought the mail. Check your mailbox"

We guessed that we needed to run to the mailbox (for this, of course, we had to warm ourselves up a little, because it was cold in the entrance). And there's The Daily Prophet in the mailbox! And here I want to express my deep gratitude to blogger Segei Subbotin, who shared this newspaper on the Internet in his article “Report + offline quest “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”.” Thank you! My children then enjoyed reading The Daily Prophet. And in the newspaper, with a black gel pen, the following letters were written: “ io

»

Preparation: we print the newspaper in advance on a sheet of A-2 format - first 2-3 sheets, then 4-1, on the day of the quest we put it in the mailbox.

The “Open Lesson with Harry Potter” quest for a children’s party will be an unforgettable event, since the children will be able to personally meet their childhood idols, as well as go through exciting tests with them. Animators at a children's birthday party will put on a whole performance with dressing up, magic and mysterious secrets that will be revealed during the quest.

At the birthday party with the quest “Open Lesson with Harry Potter” the children will have:

  • Outfit in raincoats.
  • A ride on the Hogwarts Express involves completing certain tasks that only a real wizard can complete. First of all, you need to overcome the enchanted sidewalk (cheese swamp), then you need to go through the enchanted wall, and then the ride itself.
  • Broom flying, potions lesson, levitation lesson.
  • Brave wizards, together with Harry and Hermione, will fight the dragon.
  • Through a magical tunnel, the entire team of good magicians finds themselves in the Secret Room, where all their cherished desires come true.
  • Quidditch competition.
  • We draw an identikit of “he who must not be named.”
  • We help the spiders escape into the enchanted forest.
  • We throw dragon eggs into an enchanted pond, and then we fill ourselves with magic there.

Such a party is ideal for a birthday, since the program is designed for children, but if the customer wishes, it can also be held for modern youth who grew up on books and films about Harry Potter, the boy wizard and his friends who fight evil magicians. The “Open lesson with Harry Potter” quest is a magical and magical holiday that will be unforgettable for your birthday boy and his guests! Welcome to the mysterious world of magic!

SIXTH ticket – “You can find a lot of interesting things under the beds in the boys’ room.”

Under the bed I put a box of Bertie Botts lollipops (any kind). It contains a piece of paper from the book “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” (attached) and a simple lead pencil.

We thought for a long time, we had to hint: on the reverse side “in” is written in white pencil, and with a gray pencil you just need to shade (paint over) these letters so that the code is clearly visible.

Preparation: we write the code in advance with a white pencil on a printed sheet, hide a simple pencil and this sheet in a box under the bed in the nursery.

How to organize a Harry Potter quest outdoors?

If the weather permits, you can arrange a magic quest outside. Children will happily run around in the fresh air dressed as characters from the Harry Potter book. The scenario may include the following tasks:

  1. Participants are given an envelope containing a message from the headmaster of Hogwarts. It says that our world is in danger because the Dark Lord has stolen the time turner. We need to neutralize He Who Must Not Be Named. First, children must find a red box (it can be hidden in the grass, bushes, under a bench).
  2. The box contains the code "Dancing Men". When all the letters have been selected, participants receive another clue: “Porch.” Mom is standing on the porch, asking riddles (questions based on the Harry Potter books). After the participants answer all the questions, the mother hands them an envelope with a number. Children must guess that this is the car number.
  3. A dad sits in the car and hands the participants a box of pizza. When the pizza is eaten, at the bottom of the box the children will find an envelope with a blank sheet in it. You will need to guess that the piece of paper needs to be warmed up (adults can help and hold the lighter until the next message appears on the piece of paper).

  4. Participants receive a card that takes them to a veranda filled with balloons. You need to burst them all to find the note with the task.

In each ball, put scrolls with humorous messages: “Try again,” “There is nothing here,” etc. The next task will be hidden in one ball.

  1. Children must go to the tree to which the image of the monster is attached. Participants are given water pistols, with which they need to “shoot” the monster.
  2. Game of Quidditch. You will need an inflatable children's pool and many colorful balls, including a gold-painted ball. Children must find the golden ball.

When all outdoor tasks are completed, children will receive prizes, fireworks and treats. You can arrange a buffet outdoors so that the children can have plenty of fun.

Ticket TWELVE – “I open at the end”

You can print this ticket or not. I printed it out and wrote it down so they could understand what to do next.

Preparation: place a printed letter from Professor Dumbledore in the envelope.

After all the tickets were gone, the spell “celebratio incipit” was written in the notebook, which is translated from Latin as “the holiday begins.”

The time has come to open the envelope with the inscription “I open at the end,” where the letter states that you can use the resulting spell if you find it on your personal computer. To do this, it is better to place a file called “celebratio incipit” directly on your computer desktop.

And then simply, open the file and read that the last task is to find the Vanishing Wardrobe (we have a wardrobe in the hallway - you guessed it right away!). There on the shelf there were these English-style boxes (pictured) with all sorts of goodies and various small gifts.

This is where our quest ended, although we wanted more.

And one more thing: of course, preparing for this quest is labor-intensive (printing everything out, preparing the ingredients for the potion in advance, hanging and laying everything out...), but it’s very interesting!!! And not very expensive (in our times)! And the quest for children can be held on January 1, and even later, if December 31 is not possible.

Children's quest “Harry Potter. Deathly Hallows"

Birthday is a holiday that children look forward to, regardless of age. For kids, organizing an unforgettable surprise is quite simple: just invite animators from your favorite cartoons. But children 10-12 years old are waiting for an original holiday with miracles, competitions, tasks, theatrical costumes and, of course, prizes.

Setting up a quest on your own at home is not an easy, but quite interesting idea. Preliminary preparation will be required, but the eyes of the birthday boy and guests, shining with happiness, are worth the time spent by the parents.

How to organize a children's quest:

  1. Think about a place where an exciting event will take place. If your birthday is celebrated in the warm season, you can arrange a quest in the fresh air. You can move tasks related to the Forbidden Forest outside, and hold other competitions at home. The main thing is that the space in the apartment allows, because children love to frolic and run, so they need space.
  2. Prepare your props. First of all, children must dress up as real magicians and sorcerers. You can rent costumes or sew them yourself. In the latter case, you will need black lining fabric for the cloaks of young wizards. There were 4 faculties at Hogwarts, so you can sew house emblems or tie multi-colored scarves to each cloak. Don't forget about wizard hats, which can also be made or bought in specialized stores. You will also need magic wands, unusual sweets, as well as the “Deathly Hallows”: a resurrection stone, an elder wand (an ordinary branch peeled from the bark will do), an invisibility cloak (cloak). All that remains is to print or draw invitations, tasks and pictures for the quest.

  3. Decorate the house with images of the main characters, candles, keys hanging on a rope, and small pumpkins. You can line the wall with cardboard bricks. Pour water colored with food coloring into decorative jars - it will be a magic potion. Place the sorting hat in a visible place (you can use your grandmother's hat).
  4. Now the most difficult thing remains - to come up with tasks for young magicians and sorcerers. To do this, you need to arm yourself with books about Harry Potter to make the quest realistic. The main goal of the game is to defeat the evil wizard and find the Deathly Hallows - a wand, a stone and a cloak.

  5. Place notes with tasks in hiding places. These can be a variety of places in the apartment: flower pots, books, shelves, household appliances, vases.

Choose places that make it convenient for children to look for clues. Naturally, it is better not to put notes in a basket with dirty laundry or a closet with clothes.

  1. Prepare original dishes for young wizards in advance: pumpkin pie, cheese and herb panicles. Decorative jars with jelly spiders and worms and chocolate frogs look impressive.

Beginning of the game

The Harry Potter home quest begins with the children being divided into four faculties, as was the case in the plot of the work. Prepare a hat that each participant puts on their head. Record four audio recordings in advance with the names of the departments, as if the hat were talking.

An adult dressed as Rubeus Hagrid comes out to the guests (you will need a wig, false beard, sheepskin coat, boots). He reports that He, whose name cannot be named, decided to ruin the holiday for the birthday boy and the guests. The valiant wizards, the teachers of Hogwarts, hid the Deathly Hallows and gifts in a safe place, and the young sorcerers must find them.

Task No. 1

The keys hang above the door. Children must use brooms to catch up with one key (one of the adults will run away with it in their hands). When they have caught up with the key, they open the box, which contains coins and a note with the task.

Task No. 2

Participants must count the coins and write in words in the boxes on paper what the total is. The selected cells will contain letters that will form a clue. For example, ONE HUNDRED rubles means the next clue is on the table.

Task No. 3

The note says that Hedwig the owl is waiting for Harry Potter. “If you can find her, walk five steps to the door. Where do you put your textbooks, what do you go to school with in the morning?” The children find a toy owl in their school backpack. Attached to her wing is an envelope with a crossword puzzle.

Task No. 4

Crossword Questions:

  1. What is the name of the school where Harry and his friends studied magic and wizardry? ( X ogwarts)
  2. How old were the main characters when they arrived at Hogwarts? ( Eleven )
  3. What is Harry's mother's name? ( L or)
  4. What is the name of the alley where the bank and shops for wizards are located? (Too soy )
  5. What should you eat after an encounter with a Dementor to restore your strength? (Chocolate d )
  6. What was the last exam in Harry and Friends' first year? (Mage and me)
  7. A magic spell that can be used to open any door. (A l ohomora)
  8. What month is Harry's birthday? ( July )
  9. Harry's smart and well-read friend. ( Hermiona )
  10. What faculty did Harry and his friends study in? (Gr and Ffindor)
  11. One of the Deathly Hallows. ( Stone )

When all the words are entered, the word “refrigerator” will appear in the horizontal highlighted column. So, the next clue lies right there.

Task No. 5

There is an envelope with the assignment in the refrigerator. We use the well-known cipher “Polybius Square”. The puzzle looks like this:

123456
1ABINGDE
2YoANDZANDYTO
3LMNABOUTPR
4WITHTUFXC
5HShSCHKommersantYb
6EYUI,.!

Now the quest participants need to decipher the message:

33, 11, 25, 15, 24, 42, 16

46, 13, 16, 42, 34, 26

32, 11, 33, 15, 36, 11, 14, 34, 36, 55, 66

It turns out: “Find a mandrake flower.” The guys go on a search (you can lay out paper arrows in advance that will lead the participants to the clue). The flower can be sculpted from plasticine and placed, for example, under the table. The mandrake lies in a flower pot along with a note.

Task No. 6

Children read the message: “Young wizards, you probably want to take a break and play your favorite game. We invite you to plunge into the delightful world of Quidditch.”

Participants are divided into two teams. Attach rings to opposite walls in advance, prepare a ball, mops or brooms for the players and a snitch (a shiny round candy will do). The opponents defend their hoops; the attackers must score the ball into the opponents' hoops. The Seeker's task is to catch the Golden Snitch. To make the game interesting, let the participants first throw the ball into the hoops, and at the end, throw the Snitch to the ceiling with a note attached to it.

If the room is small, go outside. Rings can be attached to trees or walls of buildings.

Task No. 7

The message that one of the adults gives to the children says the following: “The transfiguration lesson begins. Now we will see real magic! Go to the children's room, a surprise awaits you there."

Prepare simple tricks for children:

  • Egg in a bottle. In order for a chicken egg to get into the bottle, it must first be boiled and shelled. Lubricate the neck of the bottle with sunflower oil, light a crumpled piece of paper and lower it to the bottom of the bottle, and place an egg on top of the neck. When the paper burns out, the egg will fall into the container.

All tricks are performed under adult supervision. Children should not be given matches or lighters or offered to set fire to paper. The performance must be absolutely safe.

  • Toothpaste fountain. Prepare a plastic bottle, deep container, hydrogen peroxide (6%), food coloring, dry yeast, liquid soap or dishwashing liquid. Place the bottle in a container, pour ½ cup of peroxide, liquid soap into it, add food coloring. In a cup, thoroughly mix a teaspoon of dry yeast and two tablespoons of warm boiled water. Pour the mixture from the cup into the bottle. Children will be delighted when a fountain of colored liquid comes out of the bottle, reminiscent of toothpaste in consistency.

Task No. 8

After following the arrow tricks, participants go to a mirror on which a message from the book is written backwards with a permanent marker: “Anything is possible if no one has proven that it does not exist.” As soon as participants read the phrase, a cabinet under the mirror will open (it can be opened unnoticed by an adult). It will contain the Deathly Hallows. Music starts playing, adults explode firecrackers, a cloud of helium balloons floats into the room, everyone congratulates the birthday boy.

All participants are given gifts: books about Harry Potter, magic wands, sweets.
