Quest party at home: The mystery of ancient Egypt

EGYPTIAN PARTY

4 messages

Title 1. Come up with a name for your party, for example: 2. Romance on the Banks of the Nile 3. Midnight Oasis 4. Arabian Nights 5. Egyptian Seduction
Invitations Make invitations from black paper or cardboard. Cut out triangles from gold foil to represent the pyramids and attach them to the front of your invitation. Using glue with glitter or glue and glitter separately, make stars above the pyramids. You can also use a photo of Egypt on your invitations. On the back (or inside the invitation) write all the details of the party: where, when, what time. Attach the following phrase below: The giant serpent guarding the entrance to the Pharaoh's tomb will only allow guests into the party who are dressed like ancient Egyptians.

A motif is a visual representation of your theme. It can be created using various things and symbols. If you decide to throw an Egyptian-themed party, you may need Egyptian symbols such as: Uraeus - the serpent emblem found among Egyptian rulers and deities; mathematical symbol of infinity; Horus - Egyptian falcon god; emblem of the right eye of the god Ra - the supreme sun god in Ancient Egypt. All these symbols can be depicted on your invitations, on plates, in decorations.

Development of the Egyptian theme

Develop your theme with a list of words you can use on the topic. Try to make your own, but if you find it difficult, then here are some ideas to get you started: 1. Pyramids 2. Palm trees 3. Desert 4. Oasis 5. Nile River 6. Lotus columns 7. Barley cakes 8. Sphinx 9. Cobra 10 Blue water lily 11. Sarcophagi 12. Mummy 13. Tombs 14. Tents 15. Hieroglyphs 16. Papyrus 17. Caravans 18. Sculptures (Heads of pharaohs, busts of Hathor, scarabs with open wings, solar disk, etc.) 19. Egyptian gods 20. Myths and Legends of Ancient Egypt 21. Cleopatra - Queen of the Nile 22. Feather fan 23. Grapes

You need to choose 2-3 colors to use for decoration. In Ancient Egypt, color was a very important part of the existence of all life on earth. Then, if people said about a person that he did not know the color of the gods, this meant that he was incomprehensible and would never be fully understood. In art, colors were the key to the nature of creatures. For example, when Amon was depicted with blue skin, this implied his cosmic origin. Osiris's green skin explained his power over all plants and his ability to resurrect.

Egyptian artists had only 6 colors at their disposal: green, red, yellow, blue, black and white. 1. Green is the color of all vegetation and new life.

2. Red is the color of life and victory. During holidays, the ancient Egyptians painted their bodies with red ocher and wore amulets made of carnelian (a dark red stone). This color was also a symbol of rage and fire.

3. Yellow is the color of the sun and gold, which had the properties of incorruptibility, eternity and indestructibility. Thus, everything that has the color yellow acquired such a connotation.

4. The color blue was a symbol of sky and water. In a cosmic sense, its symbolism extended to the heavens and primordial waters. In both cases, blue took on the meaning of life and rebirth. Blue was also a symbol of the Nile and was associated with sacrifice and fertility.

5. Black was a symbol of death and night.

6. White meant omnipotence and purity. Since white seems to lack color, it also meant simple and sacred things.

6. Texture and decoration

Using different textures will make things look interesting and will enhance the atmosphere you want to create for the evening. For your party in Egypt you can use sand, silk, satin, velvet, old papyrus texture for the background, colorful silk shawls decorated with metal coins and beads for belly dancers. You can also use rich brocade, velvet and natural silk. Papyrus scrolls can be used for programs or thank you notes.

Decorate your hall with palm trees (real or artificial, or you can even use inflatable ones). Add real sand to create an oasis, or use a lightweight sand-colored gauze fabric to which you can add a matching Nile blue fabric. Grapevines, oil lamps, and a garland of golden ivy will give your room a real Egyptian look.

Consider lighting: candles, candles and more candles. If there are no small children at the party, place beautiful candles of different sizes on all the tables so that they glow throughout the party. Candles on water are very beautiful: take a glass bowl or several large glasses for wine, fill with water, place on the mirror, let a few small candles float freely and enjoy the romantic atmosphere.

If your party is taking place outdoors, you can raise tents made of bright fabrics (tulle, organza, silk, satin), but you should also have fewer candles. But if you are in a closed room, decorate the ceiling with the same fabrics, make an imitation of a tent above your head.

Make plenty of cushions for your guests to sit on (instead of chairs), and set a low table. Give your table a festive look by covering it with a narrow strip of fabric with beads and thick tassels at the ends. Make a pyramid out of a PVC tube, put a mummy inside (wrap the doll in rags), rubber snakes (they look like real ones), some treasures, etc.

Everywhere on the walls you can hang posters of caravans, palm trees, gold items and camels. 7. Entertainment

Dancing. Dancing was more than just a pleasant pastime in ancient Egypt. Even in the pre-dynastic period, images of female figures, possibly Goddesses or Princesses, were found dancing with their arms raised above their heads. Dance was undoubtedly an integral component of rituals and celebrations in ancient Egypt. People from different social classes were very fond of music and dancing. Workers worked to the rhythmic sounds of music and the sound of percussion instruments, and street dancers entertained the public.

Street quest scenario for children 5-7 years old

In good weather, arrange a quest for children outside. Little adventurers will happily frolic in nature or in the countryside and go through a series of tests of dexterity, courage, erudition and ingenuity.

We present to your attention a script based on the cartoon “Luntik and His Friends”. For children aged 5-7 years, you can conduct a themed quest at the dacha.

At the stage of preparation for the holiday, you need to print or draw original invitation cards with the image of Luntik and his friends.

Next, we turn the summer cottage into a “magic forest.” Each inhabitant of the forest had his own unusual house. So, let's start making the dwellings of the forest inhabitants:

  1. Mila's ladybug house. Place chairs with red capes and black polka dots at the low table. Place a portable sandbox nearby.
  2. Shnyuk's spider house. The home of a creative person must correspond to his refined nature. Decorate the gazebo with balls of light threads (they are easily made from threads and glue).
  3. House of the grasshopper Kuzi. Place a low table on the lawn and place sofa cushions around it. Place the file with the cut out parts for the appliques here.
  4. House of fireflies. Decorate several trees with glowing garlands and lanterns.
  5. Butterfly House. Stretch pieces of white fabric on the bushes, because butterflies are airy, light creatures.
  6. Baba Kapa's house. On the veranda, set the table with a samovar, pies, buns and jam.

Luntik comes out to the guys (one of the adults can put on a full-length suit, or animators are hired).

Children are given molds and spatulas, and they make Easter cakes out of sand.

Game "It's in the bag"

Participants stand in a circle. One player is put on a beautiful hat with a brim. When the music sounds, he turns around and puts the hat on the neighbor on the right. The neighbor also turns around, takes off his hat and passes it to the next participant. The music stops. The child who ends up in the hat is eliminated. He sits down at a table where sweet treats await him. The game ends when there is only one player left wearing the hat. Everyone applauds him unanimously.

Shnyuk's spider house

A sheet of paper is attached to the easel. There are paints, markers or pencils nearby. Each participant comes up and completes part of the picture.

Children are given toy musical instruments: drum, pipe, piano, xylophone, maracas, bells. Music plays and the children play along on their instruments.

The children make pictures, Luntik helps them.

Firefly House

When the children go through the maze, Luntik invites them to split into two teams and take part in a tug-of-war. Of course, friendship wins.

Beautiful music is playing, boys are dancing with girls.

Blows big soap bubbles, children happily catch them.

Baba Kapa's house

After finishing the tea party, Luntik invites the children to assemble a puzzle picture that depicts all the cartoon characters.

Hands out gifts and balloons to children.

Party in Egyptian style (scenario and competitions)

Golden desert sand, ancient pyramids, a mysterious sphinx and tombs full of treasures. Egypt is a country that excites the minds of scientists, filmmakers, artifact hunters and romantics. You've probably dreamed at least once of visiting the banks of the Nile, walking through an oriental bazaar full of the cries of merchants and the smells of spices, going down to the tomb of the pharaoh and admiring the bizarre images of gods on the walls. And even if you can’t afford to buy a ticket to Cairo right now, it’s very easy to plunge into the atmosphere of an Arabian fairy tale. Invite your friends, we'll have an Egyptian party!

Quest scenario

The keeper meets the children at the entrance to the closed room. The first two tasks will take place here. You can use stools or a small table.

Guardian: “I welcome you to the underground bunker, which is located at a depth of 150 meters and was built more than 50 years ago. Who and why needed to build housing underground is unknown! The bunker was opened by a librarian who found a strange book hidden under the library shelves. From him we all learned about the existence of a strange underground apartment, where an important envelope was kept among the things.

I am the keeper of the bunker. There were already a lot of curious people here. They came one by one and in groups. Everyone wanted to find the envelope, but in the bunker it is not so easy... The secret of the envelope is guarded by a strange ghost... It does not allow you to rummage through things, shake everything off the shelves and open cabinets in a row. Only the one who can pass all the tests and solve all the riddles will be able to find the hidden envelope!

I don't know all the secrets of this mysterious place! Only the Ghost can give you some hints! I advise you to carefully study his messages. Here’s your phone, the Ghost can send you SMS.”

Invitations

To give your guests a sense of adventure and fun ahead of time, send them handmade themed invitations. In the text, indicate not only the time and place of the holiday, but also ask to come in appropriate costumes. You can do this creatively, for example, write “The fair but strict god Osiris will allow only those who look like a true Egyptian to the feast.” Invitations can be designed in the form of a papyrus scroll. To do this, the paper needs to be artificially aged - soaked in a solution of coffee or black tea, removed and dried, and then rolled into a tube and tied with twine. (see the detailed process on the “Gypsy Party” page) Or simplify the soaking task and purchase yellow (orange) corrugated paper, glue the finished printed invitation text to it and roll it into a tube. Another option is to make (print) a beautiful postcard with images of pyramids, sphinxes, scarabs and stars. You can use gold foil and glitter for this.

A great idea would be to place the invitations inside a cardboard pyramid. On the Internet you will find many templates that you only need to cut out and glue correctly.

Sheet 4. Soups

Presenter: “Yes, an unusual task! The chef asks you to create beautiful tableware for table setting. There should be four plates and four glasses in total. Each pair should reflect some time of the year. What does the tableware from the “Winter-Spring-Summer-Autumn” collection look like?

Prepare white cardboard plates and glasses, brushes and jars of gouache for the children. Cover the table with oilcloth. Let them show their artistic abilities, chat and relax.

In the second task you need to encrypt the phone number (last 7 digits) with questions. For example, the number of the website “Holiday Again” begins like this: 8 (925), the remaining numbers must be guessed and called the number to hear the hint.

This is how I encrypted 730-88-50:

how many days in a week (7) how many winter months (3) how many people live on the Sun (0) how many legs does a spider have (8) how old is Masha (8) how many toes are on her right foot (5) how many horns does a rattlesnake have (0)

Children dial a phone number and hear only one word: WINDOW. Or some other place where Sheet 5 may lie.

Who will say this word? Yes, anyone. You can ask relatives and friends whose phone number is not on your child’s phone list for such a favor.

Dress code

The climate in the southern country was hot and dry, so the ancient Egyptians wore only the necessary minimum of clothing so that the body could breathe. Men, for example, wore only loincloths, which were called shenti, and women sported kalaziris - tight-fitting sundresses with thin straps that barely covered their chests. It is clear that in our time, perhaps, only the most relaxed people would risk appearing at a holiday in this form, so some adjustments can be made to the Egyptian dress code. Moreover, the Egyptians also followed fashion and improved their “outfit” by adding layers of clothing. However, if you don’t want to bother with an outfit, you can always rent a ready-made themed costume.

Men can wear light linen shirts and pants, and tie their hips with a piece of fabric that will resemble those very schenti. If the party is taking place in the summer at the dacha, guests may well wear only canvas shorts. To complete the look, you can wear a decoration in the form of a scarab, an Egyptian ankh cross or a solar disk around your neck, and put sandals on your feet.

Women can be guided by the image of Cleopatra when choosing an outfit. Light sundresses made of flowing fabrics or silk shirts and trousers, massive gold jewelry, straight hair and a tiara, but most importantly - thick black arrows on the eyes, so that the look would hit the target and even Julius Caesar could not resist it. Light sandals or bare feet will complete your look.

Plus, the Egyptians absolutely loved wigs! Therefore, the hairstyles of the inhabitants of the banks of the Nile had a strict geometric shape and straight lines. Dark brown and black colors were considered especially fashionable back then. So, unless you are a brunette with a bob haircut, you can easily use a matching wig and weave beads and silk threads into it.

Room decoration

It is easiest to create the right atmosphere if the party is held indoors, for example, in a restaurant or in an apartment. However, you can build a real Egyptian kingdom on the street. The main thing is your imagination.

Remember that the pharaohs loved luxury and wealth and did not hesitate to demonstrate it in every possible way. Use white airy fabric, gilded objects, fake precious stones in the design, but do not overuse too bright colors. Each color in the ancient kingdom had its own meaning, for example, yellow was a symbol of eternity, red - victory, blue - fertility, and green - new life. We recommend using these four colors. To add volume to a themed interior, you can use decorative elements made from balloons.

Description of tasks in the quest

◊ “Friends of Luntik” is an interesting task, from a letter square find and cross out the names of famous characters from the animated series “Luntik and His Friends”, the other remaining letters will lead to a new location on the street with the task.◊ “Fixie crossword puzzle” - a colorful crossword puzzle based on the presented pictures of the cartoon characters "Fixies" (not only the main cartoon roles, but also secondary ones), you need to enter their names in the crossword puzzle, thanks to which you can find the next hiding place in nature.◊ "Naughty Masha" - a logical task for children: a mess that arranged by Masha from the cartoon “Masha and the Bear”, it needs to be put in order.

Menu

Egyptian cuisine traditionally does not serve pork, but it is rich in grains and vegetables. It generously uses mild spices - coriander, saffron, turmeric, cumin. You can search the Internet for recipes for traditional Egyptian treats, and if you don’t want to spend a lot of time cooking, make pilaf as your main dish. It goes perfectly with kebabs and kebabs.

The main thing is, of course, dessert. You can order a pyramid-shaped cake and prepare your favorite Arabic sweet - baklava. Also on the table there should be a beautifully cut abundance of fruit on chic trays and chilled herbal teas in decanters. You can choose the alcohol to your taste, but it is advisable to stick to light beer, red and white wine, since Egyptians are not very fond of strong alcoholic drinks.

Home quest scenario for children 5-7 years old

Entertainment where they will only be spectators is no longer suitable for children 5-6 years old. Little fidgets will want to participate in the game, take an active part, solve riddles, and complete various tasks. For a 5-year-old child, it is better not to offer competitions where there will be winners and losers. The kid will be upset if he doesn't get the main prize.

It is also better not to use tasks related to computers or phones, for example, download a QR code, send SMS. Of course, at this age, modern children are already good at using gadgets, but it is better to come up with a fun, active game for a children's party without the involvement of computer technology.

We offer a scenario that is suitable for a girl 5-7 years old.

What you will need to complete the holiday quest:

  • posters with congratulations for apartment decoration;
  • air balloons;
  • Garlands;
  • gifts for quest participants;
  • letters from a fairy;
  • Stuffed Toys;
  • picture puzzle;
  • Finger paint;
  • a plate of pies;
  • birthday cake with candles.

The host invites all guests to leave a congratulation in the form of handprints on a large postcard. The result will be a creative gift, in the creation of which all children will be happy to participate. Then the host distributes festive caps, whistles, balloons to the guests and invites them to the festive table. After the children have had their snack, the doorbell rings. The holiday quest at home begins.

Letter from a fairy

The children run to the front door and see a beautiful envelope on the threshold. Inside is a letter from the fairy:

Along with the letter in the envelope there is a note with a riddle:

Participants look for an envelope on the windowsill with the following task: “Let’s congratulate the birthday girl together.”

The presenter hands the participants an envelope with a riddle:

Children are looking for a pillow under which the envelope with the assignment will lie.

"Finger" tree

There is a note in the envelope:

Participants go to the children's room. There, an easel with a piece of paper attached, on which a tree trunk is depicted, awaits them. Nearby are finger paints. Each child comes to the easel, dips his finger in paint and leaves a print on the paper. As a result, the tree will have a multi-colored crown.

Musical moment

Music plays, the presenter shows the movements, the children repeat. The music speeds up and participants need to perform movements at an accelerated pace.

The presenter gives the children an envelope with a riddle.

The children run to the bathroom, where another message awaits them.

Collect puzzles

The envelope contains puzzle pieces. When participants assemble the picture, they will get an image of a sofa. So the clue lies on the sofa. Animals are drawn on a piece of paper.

Magic transformation

Participants take turns taking out a picture of an animal from a bag. You need to show the animal without making sounds. When the audience guesses who the player is showing, the presenter gives him a piece of candy.

The presenter gives the children an envelope with the next riddle.

Riddle No. 4

The children find a plate of pies in the refrigerator. When they finish the baked goods, an envelope with a note from the fairy awaits them at the bottom of the plate: “You are almost there. But first we need to guess something.”

Find out the toy

Participants are blindfolded one by one. The presenter gives the player a soft toy, and he must guess what it is: a bear, a bunny, a dragon. The host gives sweets to all participants.

Riddle No. 4

The children run to the balcony and find a large box of gifts and a birthday cake.

You can organize a quest based on your favorite cartoon, for example, “Frozen”. The plot could be like this: Elsa hid the gifts, but the guys will be able to find them using the clues. Invite animators dressed as snowman Olaf and Anna as a presenter, or play famous cartoon characters yourself.

Entertainment

If your budget allows, hire animators. Let them greet guests at the entrance dressed as sphinxes or Anubis, the judge of the underworld, and offer to solve riddles to get into the world of a mysterious Egyptian party. Or you can put a gallant mummy animator as a greeter.

Let oriental melodies play in the background during your celebration. You can download the soundtracks from the film “The Mummy”, they will also be on topic.

The ancient Egyptians loved board games, so place chess, checkers and backgammon in a prominent place for partygoers to play if they wish. And so that guests don’t get bored, offer them active competitions:

  • “Mummy” . My favorite competition comes from my childhood. It's simple - the participants are divided into pairs, one of them is given a roll of toilet paper, and the second stands and endures while he is turned into a mummy. Whoever completed the task faster won;
  • “Tomb Raiders” . Place fake jewelry on a tray and ask the audience to remember what is on it. Turn around and put a few things away. Let guests guess what is missing;
  • . Men and women participate in this fun competition. The girls take on the role of makeup artists and paint traditional Egyptian black eyeliner on their “models.” The owner of the most beautiful makeup receives a prize and the right to wash off his makeup, while the losers must wear this look all evening.
  • Quest . A tabletop quest in an Egyptian themed style will perfectly complement your party, and if the quest also has a secret riddle, then your guests will definitely appreciate such creativity.

But, of course, the main entertainment of the ancient kingdom was dancing; everyone loved them - from the pharaoh to the simple farmer. So have a blast at this party like the Egyptians, and don’t forget to call a professional photographer to capture it all as a souvenir! And most importantly, take more profile photos so that it looks completely Egyptian!

PREPARATION FOR THE HOLIDAY OF CLEOPTRA AND PHAROAH

1.Invitations to Cleopatra's festival

What is the first association you have when you think of Egypt? Well, Cleopatra, of course. What else? Pyramids, sand, papyrus... Exactly! The only option (and I think not a very bad one) for designing the invitations also came to my mind. I decided to make them in the form of an ancient manuscript. This is what happened!

Of course, making such invitations requires some effort. First of all, be able to use a simple computer program - Paint. With its help, a geometric pattern on “papyrus” was created. In the center we make the inscription:

“Queen Cleopatra considered you, ________ (name), worthy to be present at the great ritual of serving beauty! Come on ______ date. "

And at the bottom there is a note (for parents): “Don't worry! We'll just play Egypt. This game is safe for the health and life of your children."

The edges of the printed invitation need to be glued to ordinary Chinese rice sticks. Tie the folded manuscript with a ribbon and give it to the guests! All! It's time to prepare more serious props!

Legend

The Egyptian princess Ankhesenamun (one of Akhenaten’s daughters) hid jewelry in her father’s tomb that she wanted to pass on to her worthy descendants. Each piece of jewelry is a talisman that brings good luck.

In 1821, many Egyptian burials were plundered by looters, and the princess's box ended up in England, passed from one European collector to another. In the 20th century, the trace of Ankhesenamon's decorations was lost.

Several years ago, copies of 12 papyri appeared in different countries, which were written down at the behest of Ankhesenamun. Each of them contains an encrypted letter, but no one was able to make a word out of them and solve the princess’s riddle.

Only to the one who glues all the papyri into one long scroll and writes the secret word will the princess give the treasure. Each scroll begins with a horoscope. Find your date of birth and read about your superpowers, look for your purpose. This is interesting!

PROGRESS OF THE HOLIDAY IN THE STYLE OF CLEOPATRA

Games and entertainment

When all our charming guests had gathered and changed their shoes, we invited them to join the creative process of creating the image of the Egyptian queen. Namely, to make for yourself a collar decorated with precious stones. I gave the girls previously prepared white paper “collars” and mother-of-pearl gouache. They drew “pebbles” with their fingers. It turned out great!

When the “little Cleopatras” were completely ready, we began to play. Our game was called: “Guess how the queen of Ancient Egypt rests?” To begin with, I turned on the music and suggested that they learn a few “Egyptian” dance moves. The girls caught everything on the fly! And soon we began to “travel” in dance from one play area to another.

Our first stop: Hand peeling “Building Pyramids”.

A portable sandbox - a wooden trough is not too difficult to find on the farm. Well, if it so happens that you don’t find anything truly wooden, an old children’s bathtub (for babies) or a flower box may well serve this purpose well. It is important to decorate it like wood: paint it or cover it with a special film.

The girls built “pyramids” using my silicone cake molds, and at the same time, as it were, applied “scrub” to their hands. It turned out quite original!

Second stop: Beauty salon.

(addressing the girls): Now, by secret ballot, we will determine the pyramid that turned out best. The one who owns this ingenious creation will be awarded the opportunity to be the first to be in the chair of an “Egyptian” manicurist.

Before the manicure, our guests received a mud mask with Dead Sea minerals and a massage using shea butter. And then they corrected the shape of the nails and painted them with gold polish.

(also to girls): I invite all other girls (so as not to get bored while waiting in line at the “Egyptian spa”) to take part in creating a new style for the ruling generation of pharaohs!

The girls were given coloring books prepared in advance. They drew with crayons the pharaohs of those times as they imagined him. And let me tell you, it turned out great!

Third stop: Egyptian Royal Make Up.

I asked my sister to participate in this entertainment. She is a professional makeup artist. However, I think every mother can draw arrows with black eyeliner and apply bright red lipstick to her little guests’ lips!

As at the previous “stop,” so that the girls would not get bored while waiting for their turn for makeup, I suggested that they start creating “jewelry” - bracelets, rings, beads and “precious” stones.

They then took these crafts home with them as a memorable souvenir of the Egyptian holiday!

After all the planned procedures were completed, I invited the girls to rest a little in Cleopatra’s “amber bedchamber”.

There they looked at the stones (which the school geography teacher kindly lent us for the holiday) and admired their reflections in the carved mirror!

Meanwhile, I was ready to surprise them further! Only this time you could taste the “Egyptian miracle”!

The essence of the game

This time I decided not to describe the role of the presenter at all. Mom, grandmother or sister just needs to sit in the kitchen or in another room behind a closed door and slip another papyrus into the crack. It could be done differently. Receive one file by email from an “unknown address” and read assignments from a tablet, for example. Or just give out all the papyri at once, the essence does not change.

Children solve puzzles, glue all the papyri into one long scroll, as the ancient Egyptians did, and write the final word in the cells. You need to leave the scroll in the middle of the room and go outside the apartment for a minute.

This whole ceremony is necessary for mom to exchange the papyrus for a box with treasures of an Egyptian princess. Here I cannot impose my opinion, put what you see fit. Chocolate coins or inexpensive jewelry.

Of course, everyone is pleased to receive some unusual talisman as a gift.

Bracelets, pendants, head decorations.

Cute pendants in the form of amulets (in case the boys play too)

If all this is expensive, mix these “gems” with candies, it looks cool.

On each scroll I placed not only a puzzle task, but also a fragment of the Egyptian horoscope (then those who wish can find the full text on the Internet). The Egyptians believed that the abilities of a newborn could be determined by the date of his birth. This information has nothing to do with the quest, it will just be interesting for girls at this age to read. The titles of the scrolls are the names of the gods of Egypt.

After the quest, you can conduct a culinary master class - making Egyptian sweets. These are sweets made from dates and almonds, for example. You can easily find the recipes. Tasty and healthy!
