Parents often call their little daughter a princess, because for them she is the most beautiful, dearest girl in the whole world! That’s why girls so often imagine themselves as princesses and love beautiful dresses, crowns, jewelry and other royal attributes. It's no wonder they dream of a princess-themed birthday. We will talk about its organization. We’ll take a special look at the holiday decor, the baby’s outfit, and also suggest a few ideas for entertainment in this theme.
There are many princesses among the heroines of Disney cartoons, which means you can make a holiday dedicated to any of them. But we will focus on one, perhaps the most popular among modern children - Sofia. It is in the style of this heroine that we will select holiday decor options.
The color scheme of the holiday is shades of violet and lilac. Since a holiday in this theme is most often a girl’s holiday, pink details are also appropriate, especially since it is combined with purple.
Well, now about each point in detail.
Invitations
Standard rectangular cards with a purple background and the main character are a win-win option, the easiest to implement. Find the template you need and print it. If you want an exclusive option, look for a violet-lilac background and overlay an image of a cartoon heroine on it in any graphics editor.
You can make more creative invitations - in the form of a dress, a crown, a flower, a small mirror, using tulle, rhinestones, and ribbons for decoration. Such cards will definitely delight little guests and make it clear that they were invited to a birthday party in the style of Princess Sofia.
Dressing up guests
When all the guests are gathered, we give each girl a hoop with a crown or a paper cap, decorated in the theme of the holiday. You can ask the girls to wear fluffy dresses for the holiday and then it will be a real royal ball. You can also place a box with purple children’s beads at the entrance so that each guest can take a decoration to match the holiday. The beads can be replaced with a necklace in the form of a lilac crystal strung on a lilac organza ribbon. The result is an easy-to-make, but very delicate decoration, almost the same as that of the heroine from the cartoon.
Competitions and quests
You can separate the guests, or you can play all together: it all depends solely on desire and capabilities. If you have a lot of friends, a good solution would be to form two or more teams - for example, “Sons of Ice”, “Daughters of Flame” or based on the names of the royal houses of the series. You can apply a point system, and after each task, award points to the team or individual players. You can also reward guests for each task. In addition, you can punish guests for failure to complete tasks - for example, deduct a point or force them to drink a cocktail in one gulp. And now we bring to your attention several competitions that will diversify the fantasy party and fill it with special magic.
Birthday girl outfit
Since she is our princess on this day, she should look the part. The birthday girl will suit an elegant, fluffy lilac dress, and will also need such a mandatory royal attribute as a crown or tiara. If a suitable dress is not found, it can be replaced with a fluffy tulle skirt of violet-lilac color and a T-shirt with the image of a cartoon heroine.
So that not only the birthday girl, but also her parents correspond to the theme of the celebration, mom can wear an evening dress and a tiara, and dad can be dressed up as a real king. Look for a suitable king costume at the theater or in organizations that rent carnival costumes.
Tip: A princess theme is great for a first birthday party.
Choice of clothes
Amazing outfits and hairstyles are another hallmark of the series. Particular attention, of course, was paid to women's outfits, but the men also looked very decent. We decided to draw your attention to the most popular images in the series, and also tell you about the general rules for choosing clothes. The events in the series take place during the Middle Ages. Spacious shirts and pants, sleeveless vests, mantles, ponchos, fur collars, pendants and bracelets - all this is useful for creating unique and inimitable looks.
Also remember that many characters, including men, appeared on screen with their hair down or in braids. Therefore, even a simple outfit, complemented by the right hairstyle and accessories, plays an important role. Don’t be shy to have a good rummage in the attic or wander through second-hand stores - most of the things you need can often be found there. Or order a copy of the costume from a themed online store, if funds allow.
Number
The recent trend is voluminous numbers symbolizing the age of the birthday person. The hall is decorated with such numbers and used as decor for a photo shoot, so the number should also be decorated in the style of the entire celebration. To do this, do not forget to put a crown on the number. Here are some ideas on how to decorate a number for a girl’s birthday in the style of Princess Sofia:
Festive table
Violet and lilac colors also predominate here. They can be diluted with white and pink. Lush bows on the chairs will create the atmosphere of a real royal ball at the holiday.
We decorate drink glasses with small paper crowns or labels with the image of the main character of the cartoon.
Candy bar
This can be a traditional table, decorated in an appropriate theme, or you can make it unusual - in the shape of Sofia herself. To do this, you will need a round table, a large princess figure, and a lilac tulle skirt that is attached around the perimeter of the table.
If we talk about decorating a candy bar, the simplest option is toppers with Sofia’s image, which you can easily make yourself by printing the image, cutting it out and attaching it to a wooden stick. These toppers are used to decorate cupcakes, cakes and other sweets. We decorate the cupcakes themselves with lilac cream and add a small crown.
You can also make cupcakes in the shape of a cartoon heroine. The base is the same as in the previous version - the cupcake itself with colored cream, and on top we decorate the dessert with a paper figurine of Sofia.
The crown can be either purely decorative, paper or plastic, or edible - made of mastic.
We decorate bottles with water or other drinks with small paper crowns.
Menu, serving
At color holidays, any menu is appropriate, but it is advisable to fit the table decor into the overall style. And red color for decorating dishes is a real gift! Many products serve as decoration in themselves: tomatoes and sauces made from them, sweet peppers, red fish and caviar, strawberries, cherries, grapes, pomegranates, watermelons.
It’s even easier with desserts - mastic, sprinkles and glaze will help fit most of the goodies. Puff biscuits, cakes, cookies, jellies, fruit ice. And also jams and confitures, dragees, marmalade, mousses, berry desserts, ice cream. Themed drinks: wine, punch, juices, cocktails. Of course, there is no need to limit guests - stylized wine glasses or glasses will “disguise” any drinks.
There is no need to design the entire menu in red only. On the contrary, in combination with other shades the treats will look more appetizing. The same applies to serving - a tablecloth, dishes and food of the same tone will blend into an indistinct spot, so it is better to alternate shades.
If the holiday is informal, disposable tableware is appropriate - red cups
for parties (popular Party Cups), the same plates, cocktail straws. Next to the glasses, leave black markers and a sign “Sign me, otherwise I’ll get lost!” or a bunch of stickers (so guests can mark their cup).
Nuts, crackers, chips, and corn pops can be served in popcorn boxes or party hats. Put clown noses on the cans, glue on lips and eyes, or draw faces. Make food name cards and mini toppers. It is better to re-stick the labels on bottles of drinks so that they do not fall out of the overall picture .
If this is a high-level party, decorate glass/porcelain - ribbons on the stems of glasses, rhinestones, flowers or acrylic patterns along the edge of single-color plates. Scatter petals, ring napkins, place candles, bouquets of flowers or decorative feathers.
Entertainment
Well, now let’s discuss the entertainment that can be organized at a princess-themed children’s birthday party. If our design was based on the theme of a specific heroine, then the games and competitions are more generalized, they are suitable for any birthday organized in the theme of any Disney princess and not only.
Poisoned Apple
You will need a bowl of water, several green apples and one red apple. We blindfold the participant, his task is to catch an apple with his teeth. The main thing is not to catch the poisoned apple. Spectators can take part in the game by prompting the participant.
Attach the tail to the horse
We print or draw a figure of a horse, prepare several tails from paper or tape. A child with his eyes closed tries to attach the tail to its proper place, and the audience helps with their tips.
Kiss the frog
This is another game that is played with eyes closed, but this time we don’t catch apples or attach a tail, but kiss frogs. Everyone knows that frogs turn into princesses if you kiss them. This is what we will dedicate the competition to. For it you will need an image of the frog itself and red lipstick. Before the competition, we paint the participants’ lips with red lipstick so that their prints on the frog are clearly visible. The child’s task is to kiss the green beauty as accurately as possible.
You can organize a game without lipstick - make several paper sponges that the child will need to glue to the frog.
Wear your crown
And again the game is blindfolded, but this time the child’s task is to attach a paper crown to the princess’s head. We pre-draw or print both the crown and the princess.
It is not necessary to conduct all these competitions blindfolded at your birthday; you can choose one or two options that will be easier for you to organize, or that seem most interesting. Do not forget that entertainment should be varied, otherwise children will quickly get tired of it.
Find the treasure
You will need a chest filled with sand, any cereal or pasta, in which treasures are hidden - coins, children's rings, bracelets, hair accessories and other little things. The children’s task is to find all the “jewels” in the chest, which they can take as a souvenir to remember the holiday.
Looking for a shoe
This is a game based on the fairy tale about Cinderella. And the task of the little guests is to find her lost shoe. To do this, before the children arrive, we hide the shoe in some secluded place, and then offer to find it using the “hot and cold” clues.
Decorating the crown
This is creative fun. For it you need to prepare several crowns made of cardboard or felt and various stones, sequins, buttons, and beads. Each little guest creates her own crown, which she can then take as a souvenir of the holiday. This game can be left without a winner, declaring all participants winners, or you can, if desired, arrange a vote for the best crown.
Another variation of this game is to decorate a large paper crown all together. To do this, we prepare the crown itself and paper decorations for it - pictures with crystals, beads. We organize the game either in the form of a joint creative process, or in the form of a relay race, when participants decorate the crown at speed - each team has its own.
Dress up the princess
This competition can be held in two ways: we dress a doll or we dress one of the guests. Accordingly, the props must be prepared depending on the chosen option. If you decide to dress up a doll, prepare several dolls and various outfit options for them, and if one of the guests will act as a model, then we take real clothes, not doll clothes. The game can be organized in the form of a relay race, when each team member runs to the princess and puts one of the items of clothing on her, or it can be done as a free-form creative activity.
We are looking for treasure
This game can be organized in the form of an exciting quest. We draw a map that will lead the kids to the treasure, but along the way they will have to go through several obstacles in the form of riddles, quizzes, and relay races. Such a quest can be organized both at home and in a children's cafe or outdoors.
Princess story
A kind of calm, creative fun for a birthday. Participants sit in a circle, one of them is given a piece of paper and a pen, where he writes the beginning of the story. The paper is then folded so that what he has written is not visible and is passed to the next participant, who continues to write the story. We do this until the sheet runs out, or until it has gone around all the participants. Then the sheet unfolds and one of the guests or the birthday girl reads the story. Usually such reading is accompanied by boisterous children's laughter.
Coloring
Another option for creative entertainment. We print coloring books with princesses and prepare several sets of colored pencils. Girls love coloring books, which means that at the holiday they will be happy to do their favorite activity - coloring pictures.
Face painting
For this fun, it is better to invite professionals who know how to apply face painting correctly and use products that are safe for children’s skin in their work. And you can depict anything related to the royal theme on your face. The most popular option is a crown.
No matter how you organize your little girl’s birthday, no matter what decor you use, and no matter what games and competitions you organize, the main thing is that the birthday girl feels like a real princess at this holiday!

Ready-made quest scenarios ⇓
Now let's get back to the most popular images of the series, which fans love to repeat.
Daenerys Targaryen. The fragile blonde became more confident in herself from season to season, and this was reflected in her outfits. But many remember her for her airy dresses, tapering under the bust and beautifully revealing her shoulders. Repeating an image is much easier than it seems. Find a floor-length outfit in blue or white with a loose bottom in your wardrobe, fasten a belt under your chest, put wide bracelets on your hands and a laconic pendant around your neck. Loose hair or a thick braid will complete the look.
Jon Snow. To replicate the image of the honest and slightly sad Jon Snow, you will need black skinny pants, a turtleneck or sweater that fits your figure, high boots and a curling iron. But if you can still show up to a party without a sword, then without a fur-lined cloak you will clearly not be recognized. Luckily, you can easily sew one from a piece of black fabric and any fur collar.
Cersei Lannister. The Queen was a real trendsetter in Westeros, so repeating the image is quite difficult. Pay attention to dresses in red shades with long flared sleeves or dresses with a V-neck. Golden-colored accessories will perfectly complement an expensive look.
Khal Drogo and the Dothraki . Pants in brown or beige shades, a wide leather belt and bracelets, vertical stripes on bare shoulders and a little smokey eye - and the image of a stern khal is ready. Dothraki can wear vests and plain sleeveless vests. And female riders should pay attention to halterneck tops and short skirts made of leather or natural fabrics.
Wildlings. Sheepskin coats, gloves, fur vests and generally more fur - this is the motto of the charismatic, but very dangerous opponents of the northerners. In addition, you cannot do without weapons here, so stock up on arrows, knives, or at least a homemade slingshot in advance.
Melisandre. The character of the Red Priestess has caused a lot of controversy, but she has no equal in the effectiveness of her appearance. To repeat the look of a witch, you should take a closer look at red dresses with long sleeves and decorate your neck with a choker. If possible, complement the look with a robe or cape with a hood.
