Every parent tries to make his child’s birthday unforgettable, fun, interesting, full of all kinds of surprises and gifts. But the success of the event depends not only on this. To make it interesting and fun for children aged 4 to 6 years, you need to come up with a quest that will not let anyone get bored.
Peculiarities
The quest for children 4, 5, 6 years old has its own characteristics. Children at this age willingly play when an adult guides them and comes up with tasks and exciting competitions. But you shouldn’t overload the kids, otherwise they will quickly lose interest in everything that’s happening. Assignments must correspond to their level of preparation. These can be simple problems, composing words, easy examples, riddles; children at this age willingly draw, make puzzles, and read poetry. Therefore, some of the tasks may be related to such topics.
Perhaps you will first need to find out about the hobbies of the little guests, but you need to focus more on the one who has a birthday.
At the same time, you can take into account all interests, distributing tasks so that everyone can show their abilities and play.
If this is a themed quest, it is worth considering who it is organized for: a boy or a girl. At this age, everyone has their own favorite cartoons. And if boys are interested in robots, cars and space aliens, then girls are interested in fairies, princesses and similar characters.
This can be done both at home and outdoors. At home, you can find a way to conduct a quest in one room or use absolutely all rooms. If the birthday is taking place in a country house or in the country, the ideal option would be your own yard - both fresh air and space to move. But a children's playground in the yard is also suitable - only here you have to take into account that other children will play along with the quest participants. There is another option to take the kids out into nature and have a picnic. But here you will have to think through many nuances, including transportation of children, comfortable accommodation, and, most importantly, concern for safety.
Features of this quest
The quest is designed specifically for children who do not yet know how to read. Here you don't have to solve complex puzzles or make words from letters. All tasks are based only on pictures. The help of parents (organizer) will be required to read the starting message and explain the essence of the task.
The legend of the quest is a letter from Leva’s brownie, but if this plot doesn’t suit you, you can compose your own starting message on any topic using the designed template from the set. The tasks on the cards are not linked to the legend.
For whom : children 3-5 years old. It can be done for one child or for a group of children (it’s better to have no more than 6 people, otherwise it will be simply inconvenient to solve the cards).
Venue : apartment/house
Occasion : for example, birthday (search for a gift); just have fun by giving your child(ren) a little surprise.
Goal: find a gift/prize
How to write a game script?
To make a good home game scenario, you need to think it through carefully. First of all, you need to decide what the purpose of the quest will be. Children always need a reward. It will be a search for a birthday cake or a gift, or maybe you will have to save the princess from the hands of an evil wizard.
In a word, you first need to decide on a goal, then build on it.
In addition, it should be noted that children need to be encouraged during the intermediate stages, so you should stock up on small prizes. Suitable for these purposes:
- chocolates;
- kinder surprises;
- small toys;
- felt-tip pens and pencils;
- puzzles;
- crackers and balloons.
Then you have to come up with tasks. They should be varied, active ones should be alternated with calm ones, creative ones with intellectual ones. It is necessary to clearly state in the script which task follows which, so that in the process you follow a strictly prepared script.
In addition, in the script you need to immediately note where letters with tasks or hints will be hidden. These should be as unexpected as possible, but safe.
A quest for kids shouldn't be too long. 5-6 tasks will be enough. But in general, you need to observe their reaction and activity. It may happen that the children will get carried away and be ready to play further. Then it is better to prepare more tasks just in case.
The conclusion of the quest should be a tea party with a birthday cake and the presentation of gifts to the birthday boy, as well as to all participants in the quest.

Examples of tasks
Any tasks for children must be within their capabilities, otherwise interest will quickly disappear. But successfully solving simple problems, on the contrary, will stimulate them to further complete tasks.
A quest held in an apartment may, for example, consist in the fact that for each completed task the team receives a fragment of a picture that needs to be collected. When all the puzzles are completed, the children receive the main prize.
Let's look at examples of some tasks.
- To warm up, you can give children pieces of paper, pencils, felt-tip pens and invite them to draw their favorite characters or draw wishes for the birthday boy.
- A good warm-up would be to write simple words. To do this, you need to prepare cards with large letters in advance. And you need to make up not just words, but those that are hidden. For example, you can suggest adding up the names of the animals: red fluffy with a tail, gray angry, big clubfoot, etc.
- A math workout won't hurt either. You need to add up examples from pre-prepared numbers. It will be enough to prepare on paper the numbers from 1 to 10 and the signs “+”, “=”, “-”.
- At the next stage, you can offer the guys riddles. The younger the children, the simpler they should be. Riddles can be on a variety of topics: animals, objects, plants, phenomena.
- I am washed, peeled, cut, fried, boiled and baked (potatoes).
- Leaves appear in spring and disappear in autumn.
- Everyone is waiting for me, and when they see me, they run (rain).
- Filled with down, lies under the ear (pillow).
There are a lot of all kinds of riddles, and it won’t be difficult to find them, or you can even come up with them yourself.
If the quest takes place on the site, then the tasks here may be different. You can suggest finding a red berry and remembering its name (raspberry, strawberry), finding flowers with yellow and orange heads (marigolds), finding where a puppy or cat is hiding.
There are many options - you have to use your imagination. No one knows children better than their own parents.
About assignments and registration
In total, there are 18 caches involved in the quest. These are 9 different task cards:
- 7 cards depicting rooms where you have to find the difference between two pictures. The difference is the hiding place.
- One card where you need to find an item without a pair .
- One card where you need to find an extra thing .
All tasks are attentive and accessible for this age. There is no point in brainstorming with such kids.
