One of the main rules of product photography is a suitable background. You can shoot on a simple white background, or you can add some zest to your pictures and use special photo backgrounds. Another type of accessories for a photo shoot that you can easily make with your own hands.
For a paper garland you need:
- colored or white paper;
- threads;
- glue or needle.
The first stage is to cut out many identical figures from paper. These can be circles, hearts, bows, stars, numbers. The second stage is to attach the figures to the thread. This can be done with glue, or you can string them on a thread using a regular sewing needle.
A small nuance: it is more convenient to store and transport a paper garland if it is wound around something. If you just put it in a bag, it can get tangled. For the same reason, you should not take threads that are too thin.
Slate
A slate board is suitable as a background for a photo shoot. It is made using large plywood and a special coating for drawing with chalk, which is glued to the surface. You can order the desired size of slate canvas on Aliexpress or Jum. They decorate the board as they wish: write congratulations, the wedding date or the names of the newlyweds.
Vintage wall
It's quite easy to create a screen for a photo zone in the Rustic style. Wooden boards are used as a frame. The effect of aged wood is created using water-based impregnation and white acrylic paint. Antique-style frames and lamps, furniture fittings, clocks and even flower pots are used to decorate the surface.
Balls
Inflatable balloons always look elegant and bring a feeling of celebration. Inflating them yourself is not difficult. If there are a lot of balls, use your dad's help or rent a special pump. You can create simple compositions from balloons - hang them in the form of a garland, or assemble them in the form of a flower.
Another option is foil balls. You can also inflate them yourself by renting a helium balloon, or seek help from specialized points. These balls come in different shapes and you can choose a shape that suits the style of the holiday.
Wreath of flowers on the head
Lately, head wreaths have become especially popular and can be seen on brides. This accessory is also suitable for a romantic photo shoot in the love story style.
Wreaths are made from the following items:
- flowers (fabric or real);
- thin green wire;
- glue;
- pieces of felt fabric.
A circle is formed from the wire according to the size of the head. Prepare several pieces of felt based on the number of colors multiplied by two. The stems are cut and a piece of fabric is glued to this place. The flowers are attached to the wire using the same felt. They are applied to the rim and secured with a piece of fabric coated with glue.
Each flower is attached in turn. Moreover, the largest one should be in the center, and the small and medium ones should be on the edges of it.
Swing
Today it is especially popular to take pictures while sitting on a hanging swing.
To make them yourself, you will need:
- wooden board (width – 80 cm, length – 1 m);
- rope (length 8-10 m);
- flowers or leaves for decoration.
Notches are made on both sides of the board so that the rope can be firmly inserted through them. They wrap it with decorative elements. These can be either bright flowers or autumn leaves. It all depends on the time of year and the shooting style. A board and rope for a swing can be bought at hardware stores, for example, Leroy Merlin.
If you organize everything yourself, it is important to prepare 5 components:
- The photographer or friends, colleagues or relatives responsible for photographing.
- Think up an interesting photo zone (you can see something in the article “15 ideas for a photo zone”)
- Buy curly balloons in the form of numbers or characters, order foam letters or hashtags, life-size flowers, just a cloud of multi-colored balloons (guests hold all this in their hands).
- Buy hats, carnival glasses, photo props on sticks (if you didn’t have time to buy them, print them out and glue them together, description below in this article).
Of course, a more advantageous option is a mustache on a felt stick, but thick cardboard also looks great! Today I tried to collect not only mustaches , but also beards, bowler hats, glasses, smoking pipes and sponges.
Just in case, I also made outline templates for printing, because a black mustache will ruin us on a cartridge :-). There are also options for a color printer, because not everyone can color so beautifully!
How to glue
We print cardboard mustaches (beards and lips) on thick paper or trace templates made on plain paper on colored cardboard, whichever is easier for you.
You can use wooden sticks (available in every supermarket now) for kebabs. We attach the stick to the back side using a piece of thick paper and PVA glue. You can simply insert it into the slots, as in the photo on the left.
If you are using felt, you need to cut out two identical blanks and glue the stick between them using a hot gun.
I advise everyone to buy a glue gun (also called a “hot one”). Then it will be useful for creating bouquets of sweets and toys, decorating gifts and... I don’t remember now, but I need it all the time :-)!
And it’s convenient to buy felt in a creativity kit (there are small squares of multi-colored pieces of felt - exactly what we need).

Ideas for a photo shoot
- A photo session is an important and memorable event in the life of newlyweds. And here you need to take into account everything - from the choice of a professional photographer to a good idea for shooting. To choose an idea, you need to get acquainted with the options, and there are many of them:
- Classic studio photography – simple and tasteful. The bride's face looks perfect (you can invite a makeup artist, hairdresser, or stylist to the shoot), lighting and background will also be selected by professionals. Poses and angles here are more important than impressions and memories; with outdoor shooting, everything is exactly the opposite.
- A photo shoot with signs is always interesting and funny. You can make texts and signs yourself, and the inscriptions there can be from the banal “I love you” to something that will be understandable only to the newlyweds themselves - sheer creativity.
- Romance for three - he, she and the photographer. A very good idea. And it can be done not on the wedding day. Warm - you can go out into nature, but even in winter you can look romantic in the house with a warm blanket and a cup of tea.
- For the most daring, there are themed shoots during which newlyweds in wedding dresses perform all sorts of unimaginable stunts. This could be roller skating, skateboarding or cycling. Photographers also love ice skates: the ice harmonizes well with the bride’s dress.
- Marine photo shoot. The title does not imply that filming necessarily takes place at sea. It could be a river, lake, waterfall. By the way, the river is a symbol of endless love, and the waterfall is a symbol of undying passion.
- Fabulous landscapes. Many lovers are attracted by unusual backgrounds - mountain slopes, a lost house in a village, dawn in the wilderness. Many even rent luxury mansions to take their dream photo.
Large paper decor
By such decor we mean various pinwheels, fans, large paper flowers.
Let's look at the process of making a round fan with your own hands.
Materials:
- paper;
- scissors;
- glue;
- stapler
We take three squares of paper and fold them like an accordion. Then we fold each accordion in half and fasten it with a stapler or glue. After this, we connect all three accordions to each other. Glue a circle of paper into the middle of the pinwheel.
From such pinwheels you can make entire garlands and streamers. You can glue letters onto the mugs and thus write “Happy Birthday” or the name of the birthday person.
Mustaches, crowns, hats
Even a child can handle this type of decor. If the baby already knows how to use scissors, then he can be trusted to make small paraphernalia for photos.
What we need:
- thick colored paper or cardboard;
- wooden sticks or skewers;
- glue.
The manufacturing process is extremely simple - we print out the templates, trace them on cardboard, cut them out and glue them to skewers. The attributes can also be additionally decorated with sparkles, bows, and beads.
Inscription on sticks
For the following attribute you need to take:
- bright markers;
- cardboard;
- skewers.
Signs of any shape are cut out of cardboard. Then they write various inscriptions on them: “The best couple”, “Together forever”, “Oh, what a bride”, etc. A skewer is glued to each cardboard and handed out to guests at the wedding for a fun shot. Today you can find ready-made inscription templates on the Internet; all you have to do is print and glue them.
Heart on hand
Not a single photo session of an expectant mother is complete without photographing the belly itself. You can diversify the same type of pictures with the help of accessories on your hand. A heart is cut out of cardboard and the desired inscription is written on it (“We are waiting for you, son,” “Daughter, we love you”). Make a small hole and thread a bright ribbon through it. This is how you can easily “dilute” your usual photo.
Umbrella with inscriptions
An umbrella with inscriptions will be an excellent wedding attribute. You can buy a regular paper accessory on Aliexpress. The desired phrase is drawn on it with gouache, for example, “Happy together”, “Thank you”. You can specify the wedding date. It is enough to print out the inscription you like and circle the letters, illuminating them from the back of the umbrella with a lamp.
