You can involve parents in the process, so the drawing process will go faster and more fun. And the resulting paintings will remain for the birthday boy as a keepsake of his birthday.
Options that require preparation
It is not always possible to celebrate a fun birthday for a 10-12 year old child outside the home. Therefore, many celebrate the holiday within their own walls. What should parents consider who are thinking about how to celebrate their teenage child’s birthday on their own?
- Firstly, if you plan to invite both relatives and peers of the birthday boy, we advise you to divide the celebration into separate hours or days. Children - at one time, relatives - at another.
- Secondly, take care of the menu for the birthday of a 10-12 year old teenager. Keep in mind that children at this age will not sit at the table for a long time, so it is better if you organize a buffet with a lot of tartlets, sandwiches, fruit and vegetable slices. Make sure there are plenty of drinks.
- Thirdly, consider what you will bet on: the activity or calmness of the children. We offer you several ideas on how you can celebrate the birthday of a 10-12 year old child at home.
Quest
A quest (“search”) is a kind of game in which you need to go through certain stages in order to receive either a birthday present or another present (for example, a cake). It is important for organizers to select tasks that guests can do and think through the route in advance.
If you have a lot of guests, you can divide them into teams; if there are few, each participant can play separately.
You can conduct a quest for the birthday of a child 10-12 years old both in the house and outside it. Teens should enjoy the search, where the prize will have to be searched throughout the city. The agency can help you organize a large-scale quest; if this is not possible, think about everything yourself. It's not as difficult as it might seem.
Examples of quest tasks can be found on the Internet.
Theme parties
Teenagers at this age really love themed parties. But you won’t be interested in the fairy-tale theme of teenagers. They want to show that they are already adults, so the theme of the parties should be adult.
Here's what you can offer your 10-12 year old child for his birthday:
- Party in MINECRAFT style. This is a very popular computer game among teenagers. Think about the design of the room where you will hold the holiday, as well as competitions and entertainment.
- Pirate Party.
- Pirate party is popular at any age. Go with your children on a treasure hunt. Children will have fun while completing various tasks.
- Party on wheels. Sympaty.net found the idea of celebrating a birthday by renting a limousine interesting. You can tour all the sights in the city in a limousine. Immediately discuss with the driver where you will need to stop and how long you will need to wait until the children have some fun. As one review says, renting a car is no more expensive than renting in a cafe. 16 children can ride in a limousine at once. You will have not only a fun birthday for children 10-12 years old, but also an unusual one.
- Horror themed party (vampire party). If you have the opportunity to rent a mini-hotel with several rooms, that would be great! The essence of the party is that children follow the plot and open rooms of fear, where different heroes are waiting for them - vampires, cannibals, etc. After completing all stages, children can go to the disco.
- The theme of a birthday party for a 10-12 year old teenager can be related to some movie that the teenager likes. Girls might be interested in a fashion show or pajama party. Boys can have a football party or a Wild West-themed party.

First anniversary!
10 years is the first serious anniversary that a child consciously celebrates. This is such a boundary between childhood and adolescence.
The child has already fully formed habits; he is already practically an adult.
This means that you need to approach the celebration responsibly. And if earlier you relied more on your instincts in decorating the holiday, now it’s a good idea to involve the birthday boy himself in preparing the event.
Firstly, he will also be pleased to take part. Secondly, it will give it its own significance. He will take the preparation very seriously, which means he will remember his birthday for the rest of his life. The question is - where to celebrate so that both the guests feel comfortable and the children have fun?
Whom to invite?
An integral part of any celebration are guests. Relatives and close friends will come to congratulate the little birthday boy. But do not forget that the most interesting thing for a child is to spend time with peers. Think in advance with your son or daughter who you will invite. Consider the number of guests based on your financial capabilities and the planned location of the holiday.
Intellectual competitions
When drawing up competitions, take into account the age, character and personal characteristics of each guest: if the majority of those invited are inactive children, reduce the number of sports competitions in favor of intellectual ones.
The most serious guest
There are no prizes in this competition, but that's not worth mentioning. The guests stand in a circle. The first one says “ha” with a serious expression on his face. The next one also with a straight face - “ha-ha”, the third adds “ha-ha-ha”. Usually it is possible to maintain a calm appearance for up to 4-5 participants. If one smiles, everyone laughs. It is allowed to silently make grimaces, trying to make the speaker laugh.
Suitcase
Everyone stays in a circle. The first one says: “I’m flying to a desert island and I’ll take binoculars with me.” The next person repeats the phrase, adding his item to the suitcase. The third one needs to list everything and name his option. Whoever “did not bring the suitcase” (did not remember the sequence) is eliminated from the game.
I believe - I don't believe
Questions are given to the teams in turn. For correct answers - tokens. Prizes – based on overall results.
- At first, only pilots used ballpoint pens (I believe).
- Russia grows the most turnips (in America).
- A couple of crocodiles in one circus were taught to dance the waltz (I don’t believe it).
- You can see a rainbow at night (I believe).
- Fireflies are used instead of flashlights (I believe).
- When a flounder is placed on a chess board, it becomes checkered (I believe).
- Dolphins are small whales (I believe).
- When a bee bites, it dies (I believe).
- Penguins fly north in winter (I don’t believe they don’t fly at all).
- Bats receive radio signals (I don’t believe it).
Tricky riddles
- He got leeches, sold them to Karabas, he smelled of swamp mud, his name was... (Pinocchio - Duremar).
- He beats and tortures the poor dolls, he is looking for a magic key, he looks terrible, this is a doctor... (Aibolit - Karabas).

- She finds out everything, spies on it, interferes and harms everyone, she only cares about the rat, and her name is... (Yaga - old woman Shapoklyak).
Guess the drawing
The presenter covers the picture with a clean opaque sheet, leaving 2 square meters free. see picture. Gradually moves the sheet, revealing more and more for review. Whoever guessed the plot first wins. The illustration should be well known to children.
Participation in the show
This could be a dance flash mob, the “Secrets of Tricks” program, or shooting a video.
The program “Nobody Cares” is especially bright. Hosted by a great musician who collects noise instruments all over the world. A fun rhythmic warm-up, a block with percussion, in the third part all participants receive an oriental darbuka drum, learn rhythmic parts and in the finale unite into a single orchestra.
Here is a description of the drum festival.
Entertainment
This is a program in which children actively participate. If you feel the strength to organize such a holiday yourself, take ready-made scripts and selections of competitions, which I have generously shared with you for many years now.
Fortunately, since 2011 I began to collect all the selections of competitions in one convenient list:
- Here is a complete list of competitions for children from 1 to 13 years old.
- Free scripts for children's quests (all can be printed)
- Collection of prizes for participation in competitions
Noticeable creative result
For some time, master classes were popular, in which children created a small souvenir under the guidance of a master in 10-15 minutes. They painted various objects, did decoupage, collected kaleidoscopes, etc. In the end, the thing turned out to be quite primitive; the event did not cause much enthusiasm.
Nowadays, they often book long master classes (2-3 hours), where you can learn, for example, how to draw using some technique, and the result of the work is not embarrassing to hang on the wall in your apartment.
It could be "Anime" or "Oil Painting". Such programs are led by experienced teachers-artists who completely immerse the children in a creative atmosphere.
